A short while ago, I blew up Instagram by suggesting that too much fruit can make you fat. A lot of people completely lost their minds because I said this, and the whole brouhaha became known as “fruitgate”. In this week’s show I’ll explain why I said it, what I learned about human behaviour from the whole crazy episode, and explain how to use food as a tool instead of an emotional crutch. Such a fruitful podcast with food for thought as always! Though you are famous for consistency I am reminded of Gandhi’s saying: “I am not at all concerned with appearing to be consistent. In my pursuit after Truth I have discarded many ideas and learnt many new things.” Thank you for being a much-needed champion of critical thinking and of not being afraid to change your mind when new data comes up. Things are neither good nor bad, but the purpose we assign them makes them so.

Veganism & Fruitgate are like politics. Don’t argue with someone dug into a position. It’s a waste of your time & valuable energy. Your time is better spent talking to someone who wants to learn & expand their mind. My husband was diagnosed with diabetes in his 30’s. The literature said to give up anything “instant” or puréed because the skin, husk, etc. were stripped away. All you are getting is the starchy/sugary center; the equivalent of licking a bowl of white sugar & stored as fat.

Another brilliant podcast😊 Thinking about a measurable goal is going to be so useful for so many people. During buttcamp I knew I wanted to reduce body fat, especially around my tummy. Every time I was out doing my cardio (even in the pissing rain ☔️) I kept visualising my tummy shrinking. My goal was to be able to tuck my shirt/top into my trouser/jeans without being self conscious. I totally smashed that goal thanks to your programme 💪 Now signed up to phase 1 and setting my body goal 💚

Omg!!!! I get so much push back on this from friends and family. There are certain "diet" plans that don't count fruit as caloric intake. When i did this diet,, What would I reach for because I was hungry.... fruit. It is healthy and I could not figure out why I wasn't changing. Such great info Kim. Love to listen while I'm at work.

I was oblivious to this. I always thought fruit was healthy, as this is what I was told. Thank you for digging in and sharing tour knowledge with us. I appreciate everything you have to say. I never would have imagined becoming vegan but you’ve inspired me and I cannot get enough of you. Hehe. Your amazing. I love your podcasts and I LOVE your programs. I want to be more like you. I have definitely gained confidence listening to all your Podcasts and doing the 8 week butt camp. You’re the best.

Loved this podcast (I’ve been listening to & learning from Kim’s podcasts for the past 6 months or so). This was an ‘aha’ podcast for me - bringing perspective on ‘fruitgate’ and refocusing it on ‘is it taking you nearer or further from your goal’. In my 20s & 30s I innocently munched just apples etc ‘being healthy’. Now at 51 with 5kg fat to lose I’ll look at my fruit intake very differently! Thank you Kim!

I listened to this podcast earlier today while running (last morning cardio of the 8 week butt camp) and really enjoyed it. We are taught that fruit is the all-purpose healthiest thing you can eat and that doesn't need to be true. I would not discard the reasons for that fruitgate being simply that some people are "addict" to fructose or other types of sugar and taking their "drug" out of them causes that aggressive reaction.Thanks for sharing this valuable info, don't let the trolls put you off

Love the fruit, but totally understand the fructose! I started following you, and am current in the butt camp for health reasons. For the past 5 years I have been on a journey, learning from constant illness that dairy is a no. Discovering a genetic mutation and low immune system function, to cutting chemicals, lowering stress, shifting thoughts, practicing gratitude and improving my physical body. At newly 41, I am nourishing my entire being and I want to thank you for helping me along the way!
